Fire at GAIL pipeline: 14 dead, Andhra Pradesh CM orders probe

Hyderabad: A blast took place at a gas pipeline belonging to Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) in East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, on Friday morning.

Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu announced that 14 people have been killed and many others have been injured in the blast that took place in Nagaram Village in Amalapuram mandal, about 560 kms from here.

All the injured have been rushed to nearby hospital, District Collector Neetu Kumari Prasad said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on microblogging website twitter, said that he has asked Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and GAIL chairman BC Tripathi to ensure immediate relief at the accident site.
