Are Girl’s Unclaimed Property: documentary telecast banned
There has recently been uproar all over the country including parliament on telecast of a documentary film by BBC on “India’s Daughter” (Nirbhaya). The documentary prepared by a BBC Correspondent includes interview of one of the rape accused who has been shown saying that the girl should have quietly allowed the rapists to fulfill their desire. They would have left her at any place after rape, but she & her male friend quarreled with rapists which resulted into brutal death of Nirbhaya. He also states that girls are actually responsible for rapes because they freely loiter during late hours. It has raised a question that even after 68 years of independence, we are living in old age when people were illiterate and did not know the social values. However, in the era of 21st century where we are living in an educated & modern society where everybody is restricted to his limits. But still if someone react like this then it is a situation of feeling shame for you. If a girl is not accompanied by his father, brother or husband, this does not confer any right on anybody to treat her as an unclaimed property & start using her for his convenience & comfort in his own style.
Biggest unfortunate part of the story is that society does not resort to boycott of culprits & their families. They behave in a manner that they had done a great thing by harassing women. On the other hand, the aggrieved that actually deserve sympathy and staunch support of the society, have to hide their face and maintain a very low profile while moving out of their homes. If matter reaches Courts a large number of lawyers are available to plead the cases of accused because accused pay handsome amount of fees for their acquittal whereas aggrieved has to depend upon Govt. lawyer who gets only a fixed salary. It does not matter whether he wins or loses the case. His interest to get justice for aggrieved fully depends upon voice of his soul. Some Govt. lawyers pay heed to this voice; some ignore & use it as an opportunity to earn illicit money. Inside the court, many embarrassing questions are asked by lawyers who create a very tough situation graver than rape for the victim. Under the circumstances, the victim break down and quit the case, some time they commit suicide also. After acquittal, rapists get more energy to recur such incident. Market of their lawyers also touches new heights.
As regards telecast of the documentary, Govt. has banned its telecast in India but it is freely being telecast in other countries. Some people are opposing its telecast on the plea that this is tarnishing the image of the country. I agree that nation’s image is top priority but safety of women is also prime responsibility of the state. There should not be gender discrimination at any stage, under any circumstances. If stern action is taken against the rapists & anti social elements, there will be no crime against women and no scope will be left for any agency to prepare documentary & telecast it in foreign countries leaving our Govt. helpless.

India is a country who is moving rapidly to become a develop country, but until and unless mentality of citizens get developed then why there is a need to be known as a developed country. I present scenario cum situation there are many different states/cities/towns/villages in India where till date discrimination is being done between boys and girls. If a girl is being born in any house then the entire family feel sorrow for that, a pregnant women is asked for a checkup to get confirm that there is a boy or a girl and if it found girl child then the family ask for an abortion to the mother who is in a hope that she play with her child. But, all her hopes are drained by such people of low mentality. Government need to amend their jurisdiction with proper laws where women’s and girl’s feel secure themselves while walking on road and by doing a campaign let the women’s and girl’s getting aware of their social rights and legal responsibilities. Where they also came to know they how should they react in a society and among whom they do not. Because it is very much important that women’s are also behave in a proper manner among the society.
