Govt approves agreement with Kenya for Cooperation in National Housing Policy:
The Union Cabinet under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given its expost-facto approval for the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Kenya on cooperation in the field of National Housing Policy Development and Management (NHPDM).
The MoU was signed on 11th July, 2016 at Nairobi during the visit of the Prime Minister of India.
Under the MoU, both the sides will collaborate on all matters relating to housing and human settlements through various strategies including training of personnel, exchange visits, expos/exhibitions, conferences and workshops.
Joint Indian-US army exercise ‘Yudh Abhyas 2016’ to begin in Uttarakhand:Daily GK Updates 11th-13th September 2016
As part of the ongoing Indo-US defence cooperation, a joint military training exercise, ‘Yudh Abhyas 2016’ is set to be conducted in Uttarakhand from September 14 to 27.
The exercise in Chaubattia was being conducted by the headquarter Central Command. It is the 12th edition of the joint military exercise hosted alternately by the two countries.
The two week exercise will witness participation of about 225 personnel of the US Army and similar strength of Congo Brigade of the Indian Army.
World’s 1st robotic eye operation performed in Britain:
British surgeons have carried out the world’s first robotic operation inside the eye -potentially revolutionising the way vision conditions are treated.
The procedure was carried out by surgeons at Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital. The robotic eye surgery trial involved 12 patients undergoing operations with increasing complexity.
Rajnath Singh commissions offshore patrolling vessel Sarathi in Goa:
Indian Coast Guard Ship ‘Sarathi’, third ship in the series of six Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV) was commissioned by the Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh at Goa.
Centre inaugurates national AROGYA fair in Bengaluru:
A national fair was organized on comprehensive Indian Medicine system (AROGYA) in Bengaluru, to project the strength of Indian System of Medicines and Homeopathy alongside BRICS Wellness Workshop.
Union Minister of State for Ayush (Independent Charge) Shripad Yesso Naik and Union minister for Fertilisers and Chemicals and Parliamentary Affairs Ananth Kumar inaugurated the National Fair.
Govt launches toll-free number for postal complaints:
The government launched toll free number 1924 to register postal complaints, over a month after introducing Twitter Sewa for redressal of telecom and postal grievances.
The service will be operational initially for 12 hours on working days between 0800 hrs to 2000 hrs. Complaint can be registered in Hindi, English and Malayalam.
HP, Singapore sign MoU for smart integrated township:
Himachal Pradesh government signed a preliminary Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Singaporegovernment for developing a smart integrated township in Jathiadevi near Shimla airport.
Patanjali launches mega food park at Nagpur industrial hub:
Yoga guru Ramdev-promoted Patanjali Ayurveda launched its mega food park on a 230-acre land at an industrial hub in Nagpur, promising to employ 10,000 people.
The company plans to develop a Rs 1,000-crore food park at Multi-model International Cargo Hub and Airport, Nagpur (MIHAN), where juices would be made from famous Nagpuri oranges and for the first time packaged as a brand.
Bakytzhan Sagintayev appointed as the PM of Kazakhstan:
Kazakhstan’s president Nursultan Nazarbayev has appointed Bakytzhan Sagintayev the country’s new prime minister. Nazarbayev made a number of government reshuffles on September 8.

Uttar Pradesh government appointed Bollywood actress Vidya Balan as brand ambassador of its ambitious Samajwadi Pension Yojana.
Filipino revenge drama wins best picture at the world’s oldest film festival
Philippines film The Woman Who Left, a black and white drama by director Lav Diaz, has won the Golden Lion for best film at the Venice Film Festival.
It tells the story of a schoolteacher’s thirst for revenge and her feelings of forgiveness after 30 years in jail for a crime she did not commit.
Twenty movies competed in the 73rd edition of the film festival.
