PM attends Somnath Trust meeting in Delhi
A meeting of the Board of Trustees of Somnath Trust was held at the Prime Minister's residence in Delhi on Saturday.
The Chairman of the trust Keshubhai Patel being unwell could not attend the meeting, chaired by L.K. Advani. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Harshavardhan Neotia, P K Laheri and J D Parmar as the trustees, also attended the meeting.
The newly appointed trustee Amit Shah was welcomed by the board at the meeting.
The Somnath trust has also decided to give 6 kg gold under the Gold Monetisation Scheme of the Government of India. Prime Minister Modi in a tweet lauded the Somnath Trust for its decision.
The Prime Minister stressed on the need to develop the Somnath as an ancient heritage pilgrimage as well as a tourist destination.
The Trust reviewed the progress of various Projects and continuous growth of devotees visiting Somnath. The Trustees also said that as Somnath is going to witness around a crore Yatris and therefore state-of-the-art infrastructure and all-round development should be envisioned.

The Prime Minister also suggested needful excavations to establish various missing historic links and bringing maximum areas under CCTV.
